Their return to the village found it occupied by the military. This brought new challenges and new opportunities. Emmanuel’s father was resourceful. He built strong ties with soldiers by supplying livestock.

He used his business skills. This ability to adapt and thrive under pressure made the family resilient. It cemented their legacy.

With time, life returned to normal after the war. Emmanuel began his formal education. Central School Oboama enrolled him. He achieved academic excellence in a short time.

Unfortunately, his talent made his classmates envious. Bullies targeted Emmanuel on his walks home. His early schooling suffered. So, his father transferred him to a more secure L.A. school.

Even in hard times, his academic potential never went astray. He fed the livestock, fetched water, and helped with farm work. The chores were hard, but he vowed to escape that life. These gave him reasons to succeed.

He says passing the exam and getting into Mbaise Secondary School was a personal victory. In that moment, the joy was more than a school triumph. It was a lifeline to a better future.
